Nantahala Brewing Co. - Bryson City, NC

I had the opportunity to drop in on the Nantahala Brewing Co. with my son-in-law, Andy. Andy is one of the owners of Cahaba Brewery in Birmingham, AL so we are always on the lookout for growing Craft Breweries. They were busy bottleing the day we were there. Will call ahead next time for a more detailed visit. They had their start in the spring of 2009.

Nantahala Brewing Co Welcom

The Brewery was set up for the fall. Great welcome sign as you enter. The founders were Chis Collier, Mike Marsden, Joe Rowland and Ken Smith. Their first brew day in mid-May 2010 with their Noon Day IPA.

In 2011 Nantahala Brewery brought on board Greg Geiger as their Brewmaster. While at the brewery Andy and I sampled 10 of their beers. They were GREAT so Greg must be doing a brewmasterly job. This same year Chris Coller left Nantahala Brewery and returned to Atlanta.

These are the sample glasses. All of their beer was clear and good. In April of 2012 at the Hickory Hops Festival Nantahala Brewery won awards for nine out of twelve beers submitted. A Gold was for the Up River Amber and Devils Courthouse Belgian Golden Strong.

The tap room was very inviting and the help is right there when you walk in. The tap room was opened in December of 2010. That same year partner Mike Marsden left Nantahala brewery.
