Catesbys Trillium (Trillium catesbaei) This is part of a collection of wildflowers that I hae stared making that are growing around our house in Western North Carolina on Cowee Ridge.

Powder Puff, Sensitive Plant (Mimosa strigillosa)

I could not believe the large group of Powder Puff plants growing in the Emeralda Marsh. I remember watching the leaves close and playing with this plant as a kid. A fun plant to find. The Mimosa only flowers like this for one day and fixes nitrogen into the soil. It was named the "Florida Plant of the Year" in 2008.
