    A hike to the Wayah Bald lookout tower is well worth the trip. The trail up to the lookout tower is wheelchair accessable. This is the mountain view from the base of the lookout tower. The lookout tower is know as the JOHN B. BYRE Memorial Tower. John was the first and youngist ( at 33 ) Forest Supervisior for the Nantahala Nantional Forest. The lookout memorial was build in 1933.

    I found this hidden place in the Whiteside Forest looking up a Whiteside Montain. The mountain is the oldest mountain in the world. The shear granite drop is 2000 feet. Located between Highlands and Chahiers, NC.
